Post by ewmHello Len,
I just had an RF ablation procedure last Monday. It was to eliminate
SVT that had occured about two monthes ago. It was a relatively
painless procedure. I was in and out of the hospital after one
overnight stay. However painless, I still don't know if has worked.
I'm still taking a beta blocker and have a different feeling in my
chest (Not a tachycardia). I'm told that this is a trigger beat and
could last for several months before disappearing.

I was told that an ablation for A-fib was too risky. My EP did an
ablation in '97 to correct an SVT/Paroxsysmal Atrial Tachycardia which
gave me problems for years. The reentry pathway was so close to the AV
node that, after the ablation, I ended up with progressive AV block.
After three months I had 3rd degree, almost complete, AV block. Of course
a dual chamber pacer was inserted. After recieving my second pacemaker I
noticed something different and thought the settings just needed
tweaking. It ended up being diagnosed as just Afib at first but turned
out to be true Atrial Tachycardia, with 300bpm in the top to 150bpm in
the bottom. This was when I was told by one EP that only a full AV
ablation would do. I opted to take a beta-blocker and a potassiom channel
blocker instead.
